Volley
- Volleys are always allowed: Must be PERFECTLY clean. ANY spin counts as a double. Call these strictly
- Hard driven balls: If you open-hand dig over-head (technically a volley) and there is some spin, no fault will be call so long as its reactionary
- Contact Quality: Ball cannot come to rest in your hands
- Volley over: Shoulders must be square to the direction of the ball, forwards or backwards
- Intent: If you were clearly trying to set your teammate and the wind or a miscalculation sent it over the net, it is not a fault, even if it wasn’t perpendicular
Blocking
- Counts as one touch
- Unclean blocks with multiple contacts are allowed so long as its one motion and the intent was only to block
- Blockers can make a second consecutive touch after their block

FAQ
How do I make a payment
- This is the leagues first year so for now we will handle all payments via Interac E-Transfer.
- The league will be continuing to grow, eventually accepting other forms of online payments.
- Recipient email: vballnexus@gmail.com
What is the minimum number of teams for the league to run
- A minimum of 6 teams are needed for the league to operate.
- If there are less then 12 teams, consideration for a single division will be made.
- Since this is the first year and registration numbers is uncertain, if the minimum number of teams is not met a complete refund will be given.
Can I use substitutes during the season
- Yes. Substitutions are permitted for either one or both players on a team.
- Substitute must play at least two regular-season matches with your team to be eligible to compete in the playoffs.
- A Waiver MUST be completed by any player who participate in the league before play begins, subs included.
What happens if my team cannot make a scheduled match
- It is the responsibility of the team to arrange for substitutes if they cannot attend.
- If no substitutes are arranged and a “no-show” occurs, the match will result in an immediate forfeit.
Who referees the matches
- Teams are responsible for self-officiating.
- Players will track their own scores and resolve any on-court calls professionally.
What happens if a match starts late
- To ensure the schedule remains on track for all athletes, any game starting more than five minutes late will result in a forfeit of the first set.
What happens if our match time runs out
- To allow the next scheduled game to begin on time, no third set will be played if the match is tied and time has expired.
- In this scenario, the match point will be awarded to the team with the largest point differential across the two sets played.
Do you cancel games due to weather
- Matches are played in wind and rain. However, play will be immediately suspended in the event of lightning.
How are weather cancellations rescheduled
- No Guarantee of Rescheduling: Due to strict court permit windows and a condensed summer schedule, Nexus Volleyball does not guarantee that cancelled nights will be rescheduled.
- We will make every reasonable effort to accommodate makeup dates, but these are subject to court availability.
- If a makeup game is possible, the following week will be played as a Double-Header. On these dates, play will commence one hour early at 5:00 PM. To maintain the schedule, these matches will consist of two sets only, with the match winner determined by the highest total point differential.
Can I register as an individual player
- Yes. While we primarily facilitate Team registrations, you may also register as an Individual.
- We will make every effort to match single players with partners of a similar skill level, though a permanent spot is not guaranteed until a team pairing is confirmed.
